In a country where vines can be grown almost everywhere and a history of wine production dating back over 3,000 years, Italy is one of the most interesting prospects imaginable for wine production.
Surprisingly there are still some excellent opportunities, due in no small part to a legislative framework which has created a more bureaucratic approach to agriculture than is seen elsewhere. Ironically the result of this has been to leave some excellent vineyard sites abandoned for generations whilst other less appropriate sites are developed.
After a prolonged search we have found a fantastic site not far from Lake Bolsena, close to Bagnorégio. The combination of altitude (450m) and proximity to water is fantastic for quality wine and we will make the most of old existing vineyards and some new plantings to both understand local tradition and experiment. Wines expected to be marketed from 2012 if all goes to plan.
